DCIM Project Engineer

About the role

The DCIM Project Engineer will design, implement and support Sunbird’s Data Center Infrastructure Management solutions for client environments. Working under the guidance of a manager or engagement lead, the engineer will ensure successful software deployments, system integration and data migration while providing both onsite and remote technical assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify DCIM problem statements, propose solutions and define project scope with a detailed plan.
• Install, configure and customise Sunbird’s DCIM suite, including dcTrack and Power IQ Articulate.
• Research and document technical specifications of IT and data‑center equipment across multiple sites.
• Migrate and cleanse data from legacy sources into the DCIM database.
• Create and maintain documentation to improve customer experience.
• Assist engineering teams with software testing for new features and fixes.
• Log and track customer issues in the Sunbird Support Portal, ensuring timely resolution.
• Participate in technical reviews for product enhancements.
• Deliver online training sessions for clients and partners.
• Provide weekly status updates on deliverables, milestones and billing.
• Coordinate client teams and manage deliverables owned by Sunbird and the client.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 1‑3 years of customer‑support experience for complex technical solutions in a data‑center environment.
• Proven ability to manage complex customer issues and deliver project outcomes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and technical communication skills.

Required skills

• Data‑center hardware knowledge: servers, blade chassis, network switches, rack PDUs.
• Network protocols: TCP/IP, VLANs, SNMP, Modbus.
• Structured cabling components: patch panels, fiber, copper.
• Facilities components: UPS, single‑phase and three‑phase power.
• VMware vSphere ESX/ESXi VM configuration and control.
• Database and SQL experience, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Windows 10/11 operating systems (including UAC).
• Microsoft Excel for CSV/xls file handling.
• AutoCAD and Visio for drawing review and editing.
