Deputy Chief Nursing Officer Inpatient Services

About the role

The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services (DCNO) reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and provides senior professional and operational leadership for all inpatient services. The role ensures safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care while supporting the hospital’s strategic, clinical, operational and financial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote evidence‑based nursing and midwifery practice in line with Dubai Health Authority and UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council standards.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, medical, allied health and operational teams to develop and implement nursing policies, professional standards and strategic initiatives.
• Provide visible, compassionate leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for nursing and midwifery staff.
• Foster multidisciplinary relationships to improve patient pathways, outcomes and overall service delivery.
• Act as deputy to the CNO, providing cross‑cover for senior nursing leadership as required.
• Oversee operational performance of all designated inpatient clinical areas, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• Extensive senior nursing leadership experience, preferably within a large acute‑care hospital.
• In‑depth knowledge of UAE health regulations and accreditation requirements.
• Proven ability to drive evidence‑based practice and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
