Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services

About the role

The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services (DCNO) reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and provides professional and operational nursing leadership across inpatient services, ensuring safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. The role works collaboratively with nursing, medical, allied health and operational teams to meet the strategic, clinical, operational and financial objectives of King’s College Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote evidence‑based nursing and midwifery practice in line with Dubai Health Authority and UAE nursing standards.
• Provide visible, compassionate leadership, mentorship and support to nursing and midwifery teams across all inpatient units.
• Oversee inpatient activity including patient flow, bed utilisation, admissions, transfers and discharges, collaborating with relevant departments.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies, professional standards and strategic initiatives.
• Foster multidisciplinary relationships to improve patient pathways and outcomes.
• Deputise for the CNO and provide cross‑cover for senior nursing leadership as required.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards and drive continuous improvement in clinical quality and safety.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse or midwife registered with the UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Significant senior leadership experience in inpatient nursing within a large acute‑care hospital.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior clinical and operational stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, patient safety and quality improvement.
• Demonstrated experience in managing patient flow, bed management and service delivery.
