Electro-Optics System Engineer

About the role

The Electro‑Optics System Engineer will lead the end‑to‑end development and integration of advanced electro‑optic sensor and imaging systems for EDGE in Abu Dhabi. The role combines systems‑engineering methodology with hands‑on optical performance validation to deliver reliable optronic solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage requirements, architecture, design, implementation and verification for electro‑optic and imaging sensor systems.
• Create detailed System and Sub‑system Specifications (SSS), Hardware Requirements Specifications (HRS) and Software Requirements Specifications (SRS).
• Lead or contribute to cross‑functional teams across optics, electronics, software and mechanical disciplines, addressing trade‑offs and integration challenges.
• Participate in design reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR) and test readiness reviews, ensuring compliance with engineering processes.
• Document test results, compliance reports and maintain project artefacts such as CONOPS, SEMP and Test & Evaluation Plans.
• Conduct market research on emerging electro‑optic technologies and prepare technical papers and proposals.
• Manage technical risk, configuration control and design decision‑making throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline focused on electro‑optics or imaging systems.
• Minimum 5 years of systems‑engineering experience with proven work on electro‑optic sensor design, imaging sensors and optronic integration.
• Hands‑on experience creating specifications, managing development cycles and validating optical performance.
• Familiarity with lifecycle methodologies such as the V‑model or Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
