Engineer I

About the role

The Engineer I will join the facilities team at W Hotels in Dubai, providing prompt maintenance support to guests and ensuring the smooth operation of hotel equipment and systems. This full‑time, onsite position involves responding to repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and upholding safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate resolutions.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room assets, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools and machinery, operate shut‑off valves and utility controls.
• Maintain inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and log daily activities for shift handover.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood‑trim repairs, and thorough clean‑up of work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclog drains), electrical components, replace switches, outlets and light bulbs, and program televisions.
• Use lockout/tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler systems.
• Enter air‑handler schedules and adjust temperature settings using basic computer skills.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, report hazards, and maintain a professional appearance.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, and general building systems.
• Ability to work safely with lockout/tagout and follow safety training.
• Professional demeanor, confidentiality, and respect for company assets.
• Strong communication with guests and team members.
