Field Service Engineer – Onsite (UAE)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer you will execute low to medium complexity service tasks on‑site for ABB’s electrification solutions in the United Arab Emirates. You will work directly with customers, ensuring first‑time‑right delivery while adhering to ABB’s quality, safety and testing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify improvement opportunities on‑site and address customer pain points.
• Perform field service tasks, diagnose technical issues and conduct remote or on‑site analysis.
• Prepare and verify material lists, ensuring availability of parts and equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, recommend corrective actions and prevent future issues.
• Receive project documentation, complete site reports and coordinate actions with the Service Manager.
• Obtain necessary permits, gate passes and power‑on/shutdown approvals.
• Verify hardware connections of MV systems, operator interfaces and network devices.
• Install, commission and validate devices using diagnostic and application tools in line with FAT results.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5‑7+ years of experience in MV field service or related applications.
• Strong knowledge of LV (MCC/PCC) and MV (AIS/GIS/RMU) switchgear.
• Familiarity with common testing tools and safe working procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

• Use of hardware and computerized testing tools.
• Diagnostic and application tool proficiency for commissioning.
• Software tools for documentation review and program download.
