Financial Manager – Shipping & Maritime Logistics

About the role

The Financial Manager will oversee the financial health and strategic direction of a shipping and maritime logistics company. Reporting to the Managing Director/General Manager, the role is based at the head office in Dubai with occasional travel to ports, terminals and vessel offices. The manager will provide accurate financial insight to support commercial and operational decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain annual budgets, voyage profitability forecasts and rolling cash‑flow projections for fleet and shore operations.
• Perform variance analysis against budgets, prior periods and industry benchmarks, presenting findings to senior management.
• Lead cost accounting for vessel voyages, freight, charter revenue, bunker and port expenses, ensuring compliance with maritime, tax and international regulations.
• Manage treasury activities, including cash management, banking relationships and payroll oversight.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports and board presentations.
• Support strategic initiatives by building financial models for new routes, charter contracts and capital investments.
• Supervise accounting staff, accounts payable/receivable, treasury and payroll teams.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; professional qualification such as CPA, CMA or ACCA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in finance within shipping, maritime, logistics or related heavy‑industry environment.
• Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting and treasury management.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Leadership experience supervising accounting and finance teams.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
