Fire Fighting Design Engineer

About the role

The Fire Fighting Design Engineer will work on‑site in Abu Dhabi, creating fire protection solutions for facilities that include gas installations. The role involves producing detailed drawings, hydraulic calculations and technical specifications while ensuring compliance with local and international codes.

Key responsibilities

• Design fire protection systems (sprinklers, hose reels, fire pumps, gas suppression) and prepare detailed drawings.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and develop technical specifications in line with NFPA and UAE civil defence regulations.
• Coordinate with project managers, mechanical and piping engineers to integrate fire fighting layouts with gas systems.
• Conduct site assessments, review project requirements and ensure safe integration of fire fighting designs.
• Prepare technical documentation, support authority approvals and respond to design queries during installation.
• Participate in quality and safety reviews throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Strong fire protection engineering knowledge, including sprinkler, hose reel, fire pump and gas suppression system design.
• Proficiency with design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD or equivalent, hydraulic calculation software and basic BIM concepts.
• Understanding of gas system design and ability to interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in fire fighting system design within the building services or oil & gas sector in the UAE or GCC.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards related to fire protection and gas installations.
