Fire Truck Operator

About the role

The Fire Truck Operator is responsible for driving fire‑fighting vehicles to emergency scenes and operating the associated equipment in line with the incident leader’s directions. The role ensures that the fire truck and its suppression tools are ready, functional, and safely used during fire, oil‑spill, or other rescue operations.

Key responsibilities

• Standby in an alert condition to respond immediately to emergencies as instructed.
• Drive fire trucks and other emergency response vehicles to incident sites.
• Operate fire‑truck pumps, foam/water/DCP systems, and mechanical rescue equipment during emergencies.
• Assist fire and rescue teams with first‑aid and transport of injured personnel.
• Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and performance testing of the fire truck and its equipment.
• Maintain accurate records, vehicle registrations, licences, and compliance documents.
• Participate in HSE drills, trainings, and related safety events.
• Undertake regular physical‑fitness training to meet the physical demands of the role.

Required profile

• Ability to remain approachable, alert, and ready for immediate deployment.
• Physical fitness sufficient for operating heavy equipment and performing rescue tasks.
• Willingness to conduct basic vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Capability to keep detailed administrative records and comply with safety regulations.
