Game Developer – Voxel Engine (Java)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Game Developer to help build and evolve a custom voxel‑based engine from the ground up. You will work remotely with a distributed team, tackling low‑level challenges in rendering, performance, and world systems while shaping core architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance core systems of a custom voxel‑based game engine.
• Implement rendering pipelines, ray casting, ray tracing, and other graphical techniques for Minecraft‑style environments.
• Work with spatial data structures, world generation, and voxel management to improve engine capabilities.
• Optimize memory usage, performance, and resource management.
• Integrate 2D, 2.5D, and 3D assets (e.g., from Blender) into the engine pipeline.
• Create and maintain internal tools for asset handling, builds, packaging, and testing.
• Prototype future‑facing features such as AI modules and external API integrations.
• Clarify ambiguous requirements, propose technical solutions, and collaborate effectively with remote teammates.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and memory management.
• Experience with low‑level graphics programming and performance optimization.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate clearly in a remote environment.
