About the role
The Head of Inclusion will steer the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's Inclusion Strategy, ensuring it aligns with GEMS Education policies, ADEK requirements, UAE legislation and international best practice. This senior position embeds inclusive principles across teaching, learning, assessment, pastoral care and student wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Inclusion Department across all school phases.
- Develop, implement and regularly review the school's Inclusion Strategy and Policy.
- Coordinate identification, assessment, referral, support and monitoring of students with additional learning needs.
- Oversee creation and review of Documented Learning Plans, Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and other personalised plans.
- Implement a tiered approach to provision, ensuring universal, targeted and intensive support.
- Ensure teaching adaptations, curriculum modifications and assessment accommodations are applied.
- Develop the Inclusion Team, managing staffing and resources effectively.
- Collaborate with teachers, department heads, pastoral teams, counsellors, admissions and senior leadership.
- Maintain partnerships with parents, external specialists, therapists and psychologists.
- Maintain accurate, confidential inclusion records and meet ADEK inspection and compliance requirements.
Required profile
- ADEK‑qualified candidate with a valid teaching licence.
- Attested Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Inclusion or a related discipline.
- Valid IELTS or proof of English medium of instruction.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Head of Department or SEN Coordinator.
- Completion of 60 hours CPD through recognised training providers.

- Ability to design and monitor personalised learning and support plans.
- Strong leadership and team‑development capabilities.
- Effective communication and partnership‑building with internal and external stakeholders.
