Librarian Specialist I – Electronic Resources

About the role

The Librarian Specialist I will manage the university’s electronic resources, ensuring seamless access for faculty, students, and researchers. The role involves coordinating subscriptions, negotiating terms, and supporting research information systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage electronic resources including databases, e‑books, e‑journals and search tools.
• Coordinate with finance and procurement to renew annual subscriptions and submit required documentation.
• Negotiate financial terms and subscription plans within the library budget.
• Arrange trial access for new databases and resolve access issues with providers.
• Provide guidance to users on accessing and using electronic resources.
• Analyze usage statistics and contribute to policy development for electronic resource acquisition.
• Support faculty with PURE profile accuracy and ORCID account creation and linking.

Required profile

• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Preferred Qualification: Master’s degree in Library Science, Knowledge Management or a related discipline.

Required skills

• At least 3 years of recent practical experience managing electronic resources in a research library or with an electronic resource provider.
• Knowledge of the research process and familiarity with research information systems such as PURE and ORCID.
