Health Information Management Clerk

About the role

The Health Information Management Clerk supports patient care by maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring confidentiality. Working within Al Dhafra Hospitals, the clerk handles filing, retrieval, data entry, and distribution of health information using the hospital's HIS.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring proper filing and preventing loss or damage.
• Create and manage larger record volumes, purge inactive records, and reactivate records from off‑site storage when requested.
• Receive, track, and file external lab reports, referral letters, insurance authorizations, and other correspondence.
• Provide medical records and information for clinic appointments, admissions, emergencies, research, and audits.
• Process release‑of‑information requests from patients, insurers, and other parties, entering requests into the HIS.
• Print, photocopy, and distribute paper and electronic records as directed by the ROI supervisor.
• Assist physicians and clinical staff with chart completion, deficiency analysis, and documentation updates.
• Transcribe and label medical reports, prioritize processing, and maintain accurate distribution databases.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Health Information System (HIS) for data entry, record tracking, and report generation.
• Accurate data entry and medical records filing skills.
