Inspector I – Quality (Coating/Insulation/Refractory)

About the role

Petrofac is seeking an Inspector I – Quality to join its Abu Dhabi team, focusing on coating, insulation and refractory work for energy infrastructure projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with standards, material traceability and quality of surface preparation across a range of contractor activities.

Key responsibilities

• Verify weather conditions and environmental constraints meet project specifications.
• Ensure handling, storage and use of painting/coating materials follow manufacturers' instructions and MSDS guidelines.
• Maintain material data sheets, traceability records and confirm correct material usage.
• Monitor contractor performance, validate applicator certifications and equipment serviceability.
• Check that inspection and test equipment is calibrated and personnel are competent.
• Oversee surface preparation, blast profile, cleanliness and protect critical components before blasting.
• Record surface profile at key stages and monitor wet and dry film thickness throughout the coating process.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience (120 months) in quality inspection for coating, insulation or refractory applications.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, safety procedures and material handling protocols.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, attending the office at least three days per week.
