Lead DCS Field Services Engineer

About the role

Gevernova is looking for a Technical Lead Engineer for its Grid Automation business portfolio in Dubai. The role covers installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software solutions, and includes reporting to the client, the substation or utility owner and the main contractor with daily or weekly progress updates. It also involves reviewing engineering documents and drawings, planning and directing resources, tools and materials to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage on-site activities during installation, commissioning and maintenance of upgrade projects or new installations
• Provide technical direction and support on OEM-packaged products and propose solutions when equipment fails
• Follow up with end users until site commissioning and the take-over certificate (TOC) are completed
• Deliver customer training under contractual terms and provide timely internal and external reports
• Attend technical meetings with customers and ensure contractual obligations are met
• Carry out all in-field activities safely in line with EHS guidelines
• Manage subcontractors, prepare methods of statement and risk assessments, and ensure material readiness
• Support business growth initiatives and take part in continuous improvement of new technologies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electronic or electrical engineering, or equivalent significant experience
• At least 10 years of experience in GEV automation and controls systems
• Fluent English
• Experience with successful installations and outages
• Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of on-site activities and communicate technical concepts clearly

Required skills

• DS Agile systems, communication protocols, system architecture, PACiS, S10 and IED integration
• Troubleshooting tools such as WireShark, IED Scout and Station Scout
• Field controllers such as C264, 850, F60, C70, C60 and AVR
• IEC 61850, 104, 101 and MODBUS
• SCMS/CS system architecture and DEWA SCMS approval
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and general arrangement drawings
