Lead Technical HSE Engineer – Offshore Subsea Project

About the role

The Lead Technical HSE Engineer will provide technical HSE leadership for an offshore subsea development in Abu Dhabi, supporting all project phases from concept to operation. The role ensures compliance with ADNOC standards, UAE regulations and international best practices while driving safety and environmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HSE engineering activities throughout project development and execution.
• Develop and review HSE philosophies, strategies and technical safety requirements.
• Conduct and facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bow‑Tie and quantitative risk assessments.
• Prepare fire & gas detection, fire protection and emergency shutdown philosophies.
• Perform environmental impact assessments and support permitting activities.
• Review engineering documents for HSE compliance and participate in design reviews.
• Support commissioning, start‑up and operational safety assurance.
• Mentor junior HSE engineers and coordinate with contractors, operations and regulators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or related).
• Minimum 15 years of HSE engineering experience in oil & gas, with at least 5 years in a lead technical safety role.
• Extensive offshore project experience, including FEED, EPC and commissioning.
• Familiarity with ADNOC offshore standards and major international operators.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
