Locum Patient Care Assistant - OBGYN Inpatient

About the role

The Locum Patient Care Assistant will work within the OBGYN inpatient unit, supporting registered nurses and doctors to deliver high‑quality patient care. Reporting to the sister or Senior Nurse, the role ensures adherence to evidence‑based guidelines and smooth patient flow through the clinic pathway.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain computer‑based patient records in line with health record policy.
• Provide cover and assistance to colleagues to ensure smooth hospital operations.
• Monitor and replenish daily stock levels, preparing treatment and consulting rooms.
• Report stock issues promptly to senior nursing staff.
• Assist with administrative and clerical duties, including reception tasks such as answering phones and registering patients.
• Provide accurate information to patients and stakeholders, following the telephone answering script.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned to meet operational needs.

Required profile

• Healthcare diploma or degree.
• Minimum two years experience in a hospital or similar setting.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
