Principal Materials Corrosion Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Materials Corrosion Engineer to lead all materials engineering activities across FEED, EPC and detailed engineering phases for oil & gas and petrochemical projects in Abu Dhabi. The role combines technical leadership with hands‑on engineering to ensure safe, reliable and cost‑effective material solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead materials engineering from concept through detailed design, covering process facilities, pipelines, static equipment and offshore structures.
• Develop and implement material selection strategies, prepare and approve material selection reports, corrosion studies and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes (NACE, ASME, ASTM, API, ISO) and project specifications.
• Provide expertise in corrosion control, coating systems, cathodic protection, metallurgy, welding and non‑metallic materials.
• Review vendor documentation, technical bids and material compliance records.
• Support HAZOP, HAZID, constructability, value‑engineering and design‑optimization studies.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Inspection and Procurement disciplines.
• Mentor and supervise a team of specialists and engineers, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.
• At least 5 years in a senior or lead materials engineering role.
• Proven experience with ADNOC standards and international codes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
