About the role
Microsoft’s Azure Core team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to design and deliver next‑generation Azure Core Compute platform services. You will create highly available, resilient, and efficient distributed systems that run at cloud scale, influencing architecture and strategy across the platform.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and define architecture for large‑scale distributed systems.
- Design and implement cloud‑scale services that meet strict availability, performance, and operability requirements.
- Conduct design reviews, write critical‑path code, and perform thorough code reviews.
- Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
- Collaborate with Azure engineering teams and product management to drive platform‑wide improvements.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architecture decisions.
- Strong problem‑solving skills for complex, ambiguous challenges.
