Purchasing Intern

About the role

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for a motivated Purchasing Intern to support its procurement activities. The role offers hands‑on experience in material management, supplier communication, and data‑driven purchasing projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the purchasing team in procuring components, materials, supplies, and equipment for factory operations.
• Manage open purchase orders and maintain professional communication with suppliers.
• Support on‑time delivery by handling purchase order confirmations, expedites, and past‑due orders.
• Contribute to department objectives, projects, and the preparation of quotes and bids.
• Apply SEL values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing principles in daily tasks.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Operations Management.
• Understanding of electronics technology, manufacturing methods, and total quality processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn new skills, assume responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team.
• Successful background check and negative drug test.
