Research Associate – Hedge Funds (Manager Selection)

About the role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a leading global investment manager in Abu Dhabi. The Research Associate will apply systematic frameworks and quantitative techniques to evaluate external hedge‑fund managers and liquid market strategies, turning investment judgement into scalable, evidence‑based decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on hedge funds and liquid market strategies, covering equity long/short, macro, credit, relative‑value, systematic and multi‑strategy approaches.
• Apply structured research frameworks and analytical tools to assess managers' competitive advantages, investment processes, team quality and performance.
• Analyse investment data, portfolio characteristics, performance drivers, risk exposures and market trends to support manager selection and ongoing monitoring.
• Generate investment insights by evaluating fundamental, quantitative and alternative datasets.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers and technology teams to refine research tools, improve workflows and enhance assessment processes.
• Prepare investment memoranda, presentations and reports for senior stakeholders, contributing to portfolio discussions and decision‑making.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in manager research, investment due diligence, hedge‑fund research, fund‑of‑funds investing or manager selection.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CFA, CAIA or equivalent are desirable.
