Respiratory Therapist – Clinical Care

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist provides independent and supervised respiratory therapy interventions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a clinical setting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures according to established policies, under direction of senior staff and physicians.
• Operate autonomously, applying critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Monitor and report material shortages to senior staff, ordering replenishments as needed.
• Develop and modify respiratory care plans and therapeutic goals in consultation with physicians.
• Assist physicians and Code Teams during cardiac/respiratory arrest situations.
• Provide advanced emergency airway care following approved protocols.
• Perform or assist with pulmonary and sleep diagnostic procedures.
• Troubleshoot respiratory care equipment and report maintenance issues.
• Educate, orient, and precept new employees and students.
• Participate in departmental education sessions and clinical presentations.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or an Associate degree (minimum two‑year program).
• Current national license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
