Senior Accountant - VAT, Corporate Tax and SAP

About the role

A permanent Senior Accountant position in the United Arab Emirates, within the banking, financial services and insurance sector. The role covers VAT compliance, corporate tax reporting, ERP and SAP processes and account reconciliations, and suits someone with 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close and ensure the accuracy of financial statements
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with UAE Federal Tax Authority regulations
• Oversee corporate tax filings and liaise with external tax authorities
• Maintain and optimise ERP and SAP accounting configurations and processes
• Carry out detailed account reconciliations, identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions
• Prepare management reports, variance analyses and financial forecasts
• Support external audits and coordinate with auditors on deliverables
• Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Work with cross-functional teams on system enhancements and process improvements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the UAE or GCC
• In-depth knowledge of UAE VAT laws and corporate tax regulations
• Preferred: CPA, ACCA or CMA certification; experience implementing or upgrading ERP/SAP systems; knowledge of IFRS and GCC tax regimes
