Senior Batch Data Engineer – Alibaba Cloud Stack

About the role

OneBullEx seeks a senior batch data engineer to own its enterprise batch data warehouse on Alibaba Cloud. The role involves designing, building and optimizing batch pipelines that feed executive dashboards, analytics and AI/ML services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT batch pipelines using Alibaba Cloud DataWorks and MaxCompute.
• Rapidly create enterprise data‑warehouse layers (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS) with modular SQL and Python scripts.
• Optimise data ingestion, transformation and batch processing across Lakehouse and Data‑Warehouse architectures (MaxCompute, Hologres, DTS).
• Ensure data reliability, high query performance, schema stability and cost‑effective cloud usage.
• Integrate AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, prompt engineering) to accelerate code generation, SQL refactoring and data validation.
• Implement strict data‑quality rules, automated reconciliation and proactive monitoring with alerting.
• Take full ownership of daily T‑1 batch pipeline stability, scheduling, backfills and legacy issue cleanup.
• Act as a bilingual technical bridge (English/Chinese) with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Alibaba Cloud data services (DataWorks, MaxCompute, DTS, Hologres, FC Functions, Data Agents).
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering, performance tuning and database optimisation.
• Proven experience modelling multi‑layer enterprise data structures (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS) and managing batch lakehouse architectures.
• Ability to work autonomously, take end‑to‑end ownership and collaborate across English and Chinese speaking teams.
