Senior Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer will lead commissioning activities for oil and gas projects, ensuring that mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems are installed, tested and handed over to operations safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will mentor junior staff and act as a technical resource across the project.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal Commissioning Engineer and prepare home‑office deliverables.
• Conduct walk‑down inspections, punch‑listing and functional testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument components on site.
• Develop and maintain commissioning manuals, start‑up spares, first‑fill and consumable procedures.
• Perform equipment system checks, function testing and resolve operational issues during commissioning, start‑up and performance tests.
• Supervise craft personnel and coordinate activities with other engineers, construction and fabrication teams.
• Maintain positive relationships with the client and project team throughout the commissioning phase.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 8–15 years of experience in oil and gas commissioning, preferably with a major contractor or consultant.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, completions and start‑up concepts and practices.
