Senior Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer will lead and execute commissioning activities for instrumentation and control systems on oil and gas projects. Reporting to the Commissioning Team Leader, the role ensures all tasks meet work standards, HSE requirements, and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and perform instrument commissioning, SAT/Loop and functional testing for APC, DCS, PLC and ESD systems.
• Prepare and execute detailed testing procedures, reports and documentation, ensuring compliance with control narratives, P&ID and loop diagrams.
• Lead small project teams, interface with other disciplines, and monitor vendor activities to guarantee integration and timely delivery.
• Develop method statements, method procedures and ensure availability of temporary supplies and spares for subsystem testing.
• Report progress, identify potential delays, and propose corrective actions while maintaining HSE standards on site.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrument Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant oil and gas experience, including at least 4 years in a commissioning leadership role.

Required skills

• Advanced Process Control (APC), Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Emergency Shut‑Down (ESD) systems.
• Control theory expertise (PI, PID, cascade, split‑range, alarm management).
• Instrumentation documentation handling: control narratives, cause‑and‑effect charts, P&ID, loop and logic block diagrams.
• SAT, Loop and functional testing procedures.
