Senior Engineer – Material Science

About the role

EDGE’s Advanced Concepts division is seeking a Senior Engineer specialized in Material Science to lead material research and development for high‑technology missile systems. You will work in a fast‑paced, innovative environment, shaping the next generation of autonomous weapons.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive research to select and qualify materials for missile components, considering mechanical, thermal and chemical performance.
• Design, execute and oversee material testing programmes, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
• Perform failure analysis and root‑cause investigations, delivering recommendations for material improvements or design changes.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and promote best practices in material science.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and aerodynamic teams to integrate materials into system designs.
• Maintain laboratory operations, develop fabrication procedures and enforce quality control throughout production.
• Deliver internal and external training on coating and energy‑absorption materials.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in polymer and coating technologies, with at least 4 years in a senior engineering role.
• Master’s or PhD in Polymer Technology or a related field.
• Proven track record of leading material research and development projects in a large corporate setting.
