Senior Lecturer – General Education

About the role

The General Education Unit is seeking a Senior Lecturer to deliver the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course. The role focuses on interdisciplinary, project‑based teaching that links science and engineering to real‑world sustainability challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and manage the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course, guiding students through problem formulation, hypothesis testing, and solution development.
• Facilitate collaborative, project‑based learning that addresses ethical, social, economic, and environmental dimensions of grand challenges.
• Develop course materials, assessments, and coordinate with department staff.
• Supervise student projects and lead student teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum eight years of relevant teaching experience at a recognized, top‑tier institution (or five years for lecturer level).
• Experience teaching in the UAE is valued.
• Strong multidisciplinary background in science and/or engineering.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Excel.
• Experience using Blackboard learning management system.
• Familiarity with CATME team formation and assessment tool.
