About the role
The Senior Technician – Condition Monitoring is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled equipment condition checks, gathering and analysing vibration and other monitoring data, and recommending proactive maintenance actions to maximise equipment uptime and extend asset life.
Key responsibilities
- Implement functional policies, processes and controls for condition monitoring within the Reliability Engineering function.
- Carry out day‑to‑day condition monitoring operations, ensuring compliance with work methods, standards and specifications.
- Conduct routine equipment checks using hand‑held and permanent instrumentation, collect accurate data, and perform overhauls, clearance measurements and damage assessments.
- Enter vibration and other monitoring data into computer systems, perform trend analysis and produce daily condition monitoring reports.
- Support planners with input for shutdown and preventive maintenance planning to minimise production impact.
- Perform routine calibration and operation of NDT equipment, ensuring tests meet applicable standards.
- Apply safety, quality and environmental policies to protect personnel and ensure legislative compliance.
Required profile
- High School Diploma with a relevant mechanical trade certification; preferably additional training in condition monitoring (vibration analysis, NDT, thermography, etc.).
- 3–5 years of experience in condition monitoring/NDT within a production plant such as an alumina refinery, oil or petrochemical facility.
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical or electrical condition monitoring techniques, including vibration spectrum analysis, ultrasonic thickness, oil analysis, thermography, shock pulse, megger testing, eddy‑current, motor phase and balance testing.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of online and offline vibration data collectors and condition monitoring systems.
- Proficiency in vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing, oil analysis and other NDT techniques.
- Experience with predictive maintenance software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair rotating industrial equipment.
- Competence with Windows, MS Office and reading technical data books.
