Senior Telecommunication Engineer (Offshore)

About the role

KBR is seeking a Senior Telecommunication Engineer to lead technical design and delivery of telecom systems for FEED and detailed engineering projects in the oil and gas sector. The role defines design basis, standards and deliverables, ensures integration with electrical and instrumentation disciplines, and mentors junior engineers. Travel to ADNOC offshore sites on a rotational basis is required for surveys and data collection.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering, development and implementation of optical fiber, LAN, structured cabling, telephone, TETRA, microwave radio, PAGA, access control, CCTV, PIDS and entertainment systems.
• Conduct offshore and onshore site visits, prepare detailed survey reports and approve OEM adequacy assessments.
• Prepare and review FEED and detailed engineering deliverables, including design basis documents, specifications, drawings and material requisitions.
• Perform technical bid evaluations, vendor coordination and support installation, testing, commissioning and operation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, ITU, NFPA and ADNOC standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years overall experience, with at least 8 years in telecom design engineering for oil and gas, including offshore facilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, Electronics & Communication Engineering or equivalent; professional certifications (PE, Chartered Engineer) are a plus.

Required skills

• Design and integration of Optical Fiber Communication, LAN, Structured Cabling, Telephone, TETRA, Microwave Radio, PAGA, Access Control, CCTV, PIDS and Entertainment Systems.
• Knowledge of hazardous area standards (IECEx/ATEX) and telecom codes (IEC, ITU, ISO, IEEE, NFPA, TIA, EN, ADNOC).
• Experience with SDH/PDH, DWDM, VSAT, DMR, LTE‑P, Private 5G, Unified Communications and Time Synchronization.
