Senior Wintel Engineer – Windows Server & Virtualization

About the role

The Senior Wintel Engineer will act as the technical authority for Microsoft Windows server platforms and virtualization technologies supporting critical clinical and administrative applications at M42 Healthcare. The role ensures continuous availability, security, and resilience of the Windows estate that underpins EMR, PACS, RIS, LIS, ERP and other hospital systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage the lifecycle of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments for production, DR and non‑production workloads.
• Lead Tier‑3 incident response for Wintel, virtualization and core Microsoft platform issues, including major clinical outages.
• Plan and execute monthly OS patching cycles in coordination with the Change Advisory Board and clinical downtime windows.
• Perform root‑cause analysis for P1/P2 incidents and drive permanent corrective actions.
• Design, size and maintain virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, Nutanix AHV) including HA/DRS, capacity planning and host lifecycle.
• Engineer Windows clustering (WSFC), file services (DFS, SMB, scale‑out file servers), print services and IIS web hosting.
• Oversee backup and recovery using Veeam, Commvault or equivalent, and validate restore procedures through regular drills.
• Implement Windows hardening following CIS benchmarks, Microsoft Security Baseline and ADHICS technical controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience managing Windows Server environments in enterprise or healthcare settings.
• Proven track record of leading high‑severity incident resolution and delivering stable, secure infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements (DoH, ADHICS) and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and driving process improvements.
