Site Structural Engineer

About the role

John R Harris & Partners is seeking an experienced Site Structural Engineer to join its supervision team in Dubai. You will oversee on‑site structural works, ensuring that construction activities follow design specifications, local codes, and safety standards across commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect on‑site structural work for compliance with approved designs, specifications, and UAE regulations (DM, ADM, etc.).
• Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, and site engineers to resolve structural issues.
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
• Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the Resident Engineer or Project Manager.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks on concrete works, rebar placement, formwork, etc.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements are met.
• Participate in site meetings and communicate project milestones, issues, and resolutions.
• Prepare progress, inspection, and structural documentation for authorities when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s a plus).
• 8–10 years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years on UAE projects.
• Familiarity with UAE building codes and municipality standards (Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi DMT).
• Strong understanding of concrete and steel construction practices.
• Excellent communication and site coordination skills.
• Valid UAE driving licence (preferred) and SOE membership (advantageous).
