Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure and Acquisition

About the role

Speechify is looking for a Software Engineer to join the AI team’s data side, focusing on building and scaling high‑quality audio datasets that power next‑generation text‑to‑speech models. The role combines software development, cloud infrastructure, and data acquisition to support large‑scale model training.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and ingest new sources of audio data into the ingestion pipeline.
• Operate and extend the cloud‑based ingestion infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, managed with Terraform.
• Collaborate with AI scientists to improve cost, throughput, and quality of data collection.
• Work with AI leadership to define the dataset roadmap for consumer and enterprise products.

Required profile

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Bash and Python scripting within Linux environments.
• Experience with Docker and Infrastructure‑as‑Code, preferably using Terraform.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud provider, specifically GCP.
• Experience with web crawlers or large‑scale data processing workflows is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
