Specialist Physician – General Medicine

About the role

The Specialist Physician in General Medicine delivers high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care within a hospital division. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role also involves supervising junior medical staff and contributing to clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide diagnosis and treatment in line with best‑practice standards for general medicine.
• Support Consultant Physicians in ensuring continuous medical coverage for the division.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties, and coordinate patient care plans.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing clinical responsibilities.
• Assist with out‑of‑hours on‑call duties on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Contribute to performance management, peer review, audit, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures, discharge, and follow‑up.

Required profile

• Qualified medical professional capable of delivering general‑medicine care.
• Experience supervising junior medical staff and participating in team‑based patient care.
• Willingness to engage in out‑of‑hours on‑call rotations.
• Commitment to adhering to hospital policies, audit processes, and quality‑improvement culture.
