Specialist Physician – OB/Gyne Ward

About the role

The Specialist Physician – OB/Gyne Ward provides high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within the obstetrics and gynaecology division. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and participation in multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care to in‑patients and out‑patients in accordance with best practice guidelines.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing responsibility for their patient care.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as required.
• Collaborate with other specialties and support services to ensure comprehensive patient management.
• Support departmental initiatives, policies, performance management, and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with a recognised specialty in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Experience working in a hospital setting, preferably in a ward environment.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and contribute to their training.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Clinical diagnosis and treatment within obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Effective documentation and communication with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Adherence to hospital policies, admission and discharge protocols.
