Specialist Physician – Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Specialist Physician in Pediatric Intensive Care to join our PICU team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering comprehensive critical care to critically ill infants, children and adolescents, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist-level care for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and life‑threatening medical and surgical conditions.
• Manage mechanical ventilation, non‑invasive ventilation and high‑flow oxygen therapy.
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and administer vasoactive support.
• Lead sepsis and septic shock management, acute respiratory failure, neurological emergencies, postoperative and trauma care.
• Stabilize patients transferred from the Emergency Department, wards, operating theatre and other areas.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians and other subspecialists.
• Participate in daily PICU rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, on‑call services and clinical handovers.
• Contribute to clinical protocols, quality improvement, research, teaching and supervision of trainees.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Completed postgraduate training in Pediatrics.
• Board certification or specialist qualification in Pediatrics or Pediatric Critical Care.
• Fellowship or advanced formal training in Pediatric Intensive Care.
• Minimum of 60 months (5 years) of relevant clinical experience.
