Specialist Physician – Trauma Orthopedics

About the role

The Specialist Physician – Trauma Orthopedics will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within the Orthopaedics Division of SSMC in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to a Consultant Physician, the post holder will diagnose and treat trauma orthopaedic patients, supervise junior medical staff and contribute to clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care in line with best‑practice standards for trauma orthopaedics.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly.
• Document clinical information accurately and timely.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, sharing responsibility for their patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and liaise with other specialties.
• Ensure appropriate utilization of hospital resources and adherence to admission, discharge and surgical protocols.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis.
• Communicate clinical information to patients and families with consent.
• Support departmental initiatives, performance management and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification in Orthopaedic Trauma.
• Experience in diagnosing and treating trauma orthopaedic cases.
• Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior medical staff.
• Commitment to patient‑centred, evidence‑based practice.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
