Able Seaman for TSHD Operations

About the role

The Able Seaman will support deck operations on a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD). This role involves a mix of routine deck work, dredging assistance, and safety duties aboard the vessel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform deck duties including mooring, unmooring, anchoring, and towing operations.
• Assist in dredging operations such as handling pipelines, floating hoses, and anchors.
• Operate deck machinery like winches, cranes, and capstans under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of deck areas, tools, and equipment.
• Participate in loading, unloading, and securing of cargo and dredging materials.
• Stand lookout/watch duties as assigned by the Officer on Watch.
• Assist in routine maintenance, chipping, painting, and greasing tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures and use PPE during operations.
• Support emergency drills and respond effectively during emergencies.
• Comply with company policies, environmental regulations, and instructions from senior officers.

Required profile

• STCW Training.
• Watchkeeping Certificate.
• Valid medical certificate.

Required skills

• Operation of deck machinery (winches, cranes, capstans).
• Handling of pipelines, floating hoses, and anchors.
• Mooring, unmooring, anchoring, and towing procedures.
• Adherence to safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
