Account Manager – Journals & eBooks (East Africa)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, results‑driven Account Manager to lead the growth of our Journals and eBooks business across East Africa. Based in Dubai, the role involves expanding institutional sales, managing key accounts and building high‑value relationships with consortiums.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary relationship manager for consortiums, negotiating deals, renewals and strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions and government bodies.
• Achieve at least 20% year‑on‑year revenue growth by identifying new opportunities, upselling existing clients and developing strategic account plans.
• Collaborate with global teams on pricing, bundling and subscription models, and drive adoption of blended and Read & Publish agreements.
• Identify and engage potential consortium partners, providing market insights and competitive intelligence to shape account strategies.
• Work closely with internal marketing, editorial and customer service teams, track performance and report forecasts to leadership.

Required profile

• 5+ years of B2B account management or institutional sales experience, preferably in academic publishing, eBooks or journals.
• Proven track record of revenue growth, managing high‑value accounts and closing complex deals.
• Ability to travel across East Africa and, if required, other African regions for client meetings and events.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Open Access, Read & Publish models and digital content licensing is a strong advantage.
