Accountant - Gold & Diamond Jewelry

About the role

An experienced accountant with strong UAE experience in the gold, diamond and jewelry industry is sought. The role covers end-to-end accounting, including gold accounting, inventory reconciliation, costing and UAE VAT compliance. The position is based in Dubai and immediate joiners are highly preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounting functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger
• Handle gold purchase and payment entries for 22K, 18K and 24K gold
• Maintain accurate accounting records for gold, diamonds and finished jewelry
• Perform regular physical versus system stock reconciliation
• Handle gold melting, manufacturing and production accounting
• Monitor gold consumption, wastage, melting loss and production variances
• Handle gold rate fluctuations and costing adjustments, and ensure valuation based on gold purity/karat and diamond grading
• Maintain accurate raw material, work-in-progress and finished goods records
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT and FTA requirements, assist with VAT returns and coordinate with external auditors
• Maintain documentation for suppliers, imports, local purchases and manufacturing transactions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of UAE experience in the gold and diamond / jewelry industry (mandatory)
• Strong practical knowledge of gold pricing, karat calculations and diamond valuation
• Hands-on experience in gold manufacturing and melting highly preferred; bullion trading and jewelry production experience an advantage
• Good knowledge of UAE VAT laws and FTA compliance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail, wholesale and manufacturing environment

Required skills

• Experience with accounting and ERP systems; Suntech software highly preferred
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
