Accountant – Hospitality (Hotel & Student Accommodation)

About the role

The Accountant will manage bookkeeping, budget preparation and daily accounting operations for a hospitality portfolio that includes hotels and student accommodation. The role ensures accurate financial records, supports month‑end closing and prepares financial reports and community budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date general ledger entries and record day‑to‑day transactions including AP/AR, receipts, payments and journal entries.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts, bank statements and other financial statements on a regular basis.
• Prepare and monitor cash flow, manage petty cash and support cash‑flow forecasting.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, VAT filings and fixed‑asset registers.
• Support annual budget preparation, track variances and provide analysis.
• Post month‑end journals, accruals and assist in quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Liaise with internal teams, auditors and management to ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Master’s preferred) and CA/ICWA Intermediate or ACCA qualification.
• 3–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in hotel, student accommodation or other hospitality divisions.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, accounting standards and budget preparation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Familiarity with ERP accounting software such as D365 Finance & Operations, Oracle or SAP.
