Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

This role combines general accounts payable processing with insurance and reinsurance accounting, including P&C claims settlement validation and VAT compliance. It covers invoice validation, supplier payments, vendor reconciliation and support of month-end closing.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods receipt notes, check approvals against delegation of authority, and post them correctly in the general ledger.
• Prepare and execute supplier payment runs, validate bank details, and support cash flow planning.
• Validate VAT treatment, vendor registration and tax invoices under UAE VAT rules, and support VAT returns and audit documentation.
• Process facultative, treaty and excess-of-loss reinsurance payments, reconcile statements of account with reinsurers and brokers, and follow up on outstanding documents.
• Validate P&C claims settlement amounts, confirm recoveries and reinstatement premiums, and reconcile commission statements and treaty accounts.
• Support monthly reconciliation reports, month-end and year-end closing, auditor schedules and management reporting.
• Ensure maker-checker controls, audit trails and SLAs, and take part in internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; ACCA or CMA preferred.
• 5 years in accounts payable and finance, including at least 3 years in insurance or reinsurance accounting.
• Experience in P&C insurance operations, supplier payments and reconciliations, and treaty, facultative and XOL settlements.
• Preferred: large insurance companies, ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, EBS, Dynamics), and high-volume payment environments.
