Accounts Receivable Accountant

About the role

The Accounts Receivable Accountant manages the money owed to the company by its customers for goods or services. The role covers invoicing, recording and reconciling payments, following up on overdue accounts, resolving billing disputes and ensuring timely collections so that cash flow is optimised and bad debts are minimised.

Key responsibilities

• Email and telephone follow-up with assigned customers, including sending Statements of Account (SOA), payment reminders and handling complaints and disputes
• Book and allocate payments received, prepare PDC and credit card receipts, and upload selected invoices to customer portals with supporting documents
• Ensure timely collection of receivables from assigned customers and arrange cheque collection through a messenger
• Submit SOAs of aggregators in the required format and coordinate with Operations, Sales and Traffic Fine departments to escalate customer issues
• Follow up with the invoicing team on incorrect invoices and credit notes, and prepare customer refunds
• Perform monthly debtor account reconciliation and prepare daily and monthly debtor ageing reports
• Provide documents for legal cases and reports to the Assistant Finance Manager when requested
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, ISO standards, health and safety requirements and the ethical code of conduct

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA preferred but not required
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the automotive or luxury brand sector
• Knowledge of local tax laws affecting the automotive industry
