Admin Nursing Supervisor

About the role

The Admin Nursing Supervisor oversees the effective use of manpower and resources to deliver the highest standards of nursing care and patient safety at American Hospital Dubai. This senior position coordinates departmental goals, ensures compliance with hospital policies, and acts as a resource person in the manager’s absence.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing manpower plans according to patient census and acuity, and act as Bed Coordinator when required.
• Manage internal, inbound, outbound and international patient transfers, including all related documentation.
• Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing infection‑control, safety, and security policies.
• Participate in departmental goal setting, policy formulation, and hospital‑wide nursing committees.
• Respond to emergency codes (e.g., code red, code blue, code green) and record them for quality measures.
• Oversee documentation and liaison with families in the event of a patient’s death, meeting UAE requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (minimum three‑year program) or equivalent degree (minimum two‑year program) with registration as a Registered Nurse from an approved country.
• Minimum five years of recent post‑graduate inpatient nursing experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Valid license/registration to practice in the home country or last country of employment.
• UAE nationals must provide birth certificate and mother’s family book; non‑UAE graduates need six months clinical training in an APS health facility.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications (can be obtained during probation).
• Knowledge of DHA policies, infection‑control, pain management, wound care, and controlled‑drug handling.
• Advanced communication, coordination, escalation, and conflict‑management abilities.
