AI Research Scientist

About the role

United Imaging Intelligence (UII), founded in 2017 and led by Professor Dinggang Shen and Dr. Xiang Sean Zhou, develops AI solutions for medical devices, imaging and diagnosis. It is looking for an AI Research Scientist to research and develop analytic algorithms for AI healthcare, work with hospitals and research institutes, and contribute to product development.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop analytic algorithms for AI healthcare, including literature review, feasibility study, prototype development, code implementation and performance optimization.
• Work with hospitals and research institutes on scientific research.
• Understand user needs and take part in product innovation, development and realization.
• Document and summarize technical knowledge and write documents needed for product registration.
• Keep improving technical skills and academic achievements by publishing papers and applying for patents.
• Share technical knowledge within the team and help recruit and train new members.

Required profile

• Master's degree, or PhD preferred, in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics/physics or a related field.
• Strong teamwork, communication, collaboration and learning skills.
• Good English communication and writing.
• Faith and understanding of the prospects of AI healthcare.

Required skills

• Proficiency in deep learning algorithms and at least one platform such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or Caffe.
• C/C++ and Python programming; familiarity with ITK/VTK/QT is best.
• Papers in top journals/conferences on medical image processing, computer vision, machine learning or NLP, and experience with traditional ML algorithms (AdaBoost, Random Forest, SVM) and medical image processing algorithms (Deformable Registration, Deformable models).
• Experience with product development is best.
