Anesthesia Technologist – Clinical Support

About the role

The Anesthesia Technologist – Clinical Support provides skilled assistance to anesthesiologists and anesthesia providers, ensuring that all anesthesia equipment and environments meet safety standards. This role is essential for the preparation, monitoring, and maintenance of anesthesia procedures in the operating theatre.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and re‑prepare anesthesia sites, equipment, and materials daily.
• Assist in establishing, maintaining, and recording functional integrity of anesthesia machines, infusion pumps, and airway equipment.
• Support patient transfer to the operating room, positioning, and hand‑over to PACU or ICU.
• Participate in sign‑in, time‑out, and sign‑out safety procedures.
• Under direct supervision, prepare and administer anesthesia medication and monitor patients throughout procedures.
• Assist during emergency resuscitation, including intra‑operative cardiac arrest and difficult airway management.
• Collect and analyze blood samples, perform point‑of‑care testing, and administer blood products as needed.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly equipment checks, restocking, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot technical or clinical adverse events and ensure thorough cleaning and disinfection of equipment.

Required profile

• Qualified anesthesia technician/technologist familiar with the scope of practice.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of an anesthesiologist.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia safety standards and infection control.

Required skills

• Operation and maintenance of anesthesia machines, infusion pumps, and airway equipment.
• Point‑of‑care testing and blood sample analysis.
• Preparation and handling of intravenous anesthesia drugs.
• Peripheral intravenous access and assistance with central/arterial line insertion.
• Patient monitoring and vital sign interpretation.
• Equipment troubleshooting and documentation.
• Infection control and equipment sterilization procedures.
