Appointed Person – Lifting Operations

About the role

The Appointed Person will be responsible for overseeing all lifting operations at Emirates Steel Industries, ensuring compliance with OSHAD‑SF regulations and company safety standards. This senior role involves developing lifting plans, supervising crane activities, and acting as the primary point of contact for lifting‑related safety matters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and approve lifting plans and safe systems of work for all crane operations.
• Verify that all personnel involved in lifting activities are competent and understand their responsibilities.
• Ensure availability of test certificates, inspection reports and other documentation for lifting equipment and accessories.
• Monitor third‑party inspections, audit contracts for lifting equipment, and support crane trainer in delivering compliant training.
• Provide technical advice on lifting queries, support incident investigations and maintain lifting safety information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of supervisory/management experience in crane or lifting operations, with at least 5 years directly handling lifting equipment.
• Previous experience in oil & gas, steel‑making plants or ports is advantageous.

Required skills

• Computer skills (Office, Windows).
• Certified signaler/slinger from an approved third‑party training provider.
