Assistant Accountant – Payables

About the role

The Assistant Accountant – Payables will support the analysis, recording and processing of financial transactions related to payables, ensuring compliance with RIT’s policies, IFRS standards and tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and record supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and contract compliance.
• Maintain proper document management and archive records per RIT policies.
• Conduct monthly vendor and bank reconciliations.
• Process invoices and payments to suppliers and service providers.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records for monthly books and input data into the ERP system.
• Coordinate clearance for final settlement/exit payments with HR and departments.
• Record and reconcile faculty housing, education benefits, fixed assets, depreciation, and cash registers for immigration requirements.
• Support financial audit processes and ensure timely completion of audits.
• Handle petty cash transactions, timesheet reconciliation, and assist in financial reporting and month‑end/quarter‑end closures.
• Ensure compliance with local filing requirements such as VAT, tax, and external audit filings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with an ERP system (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP).
• Strong command of MS Office applications.
• Flexible working hours, including possible weekends and evenings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional representation of the university.
