Assistant Buyer – Decor

About the role

Careers International is recruiting an Assistant Buyer for the home decor category in Dubai. The role covers trend research, product development, vendor sourcing, pricing and margin control, order management and market intelligence, working closely with designers and the merchandising team.

Key responsibilities

• Research market trends, seasonal decor themes and customer preferences to expand and refine the decor product range, and work with designers to develop and refine products.
• Identify potential vendors and suppliers of unique, high-quality decor items and build relationships with global and local vendors.
• Manage product pricing to maximise profit margins while keeping prices competitive, aligned with company objectives and market positioning.
• Assist in order placement, ensure proper documentation, track shipments and confirm products meet quality standards; follow up on delays or production issues.
• Monitor competitors and market trends in the home decor sector and make recommendations based on competitor analysis.
• Collaborate with the merchandising team so decor products are presented attractively in stores and online.
• Gather customer feedback to understand product preferences and adjust the range accordingly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or a related field.
• 4-6 years of experience in category management, purchasing or buying within the home decor or furniture industry.
• Strong knowledge of home decor trends, materials and suppliers.
• Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritise work and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel and other relevant tools.
• Strong project management abilities.
