Assistant Chief Engineer – Hotel Engineering

About the role

As an Assistant Chief Engineer, you will support the Chief Engineer in managing the day‑to‑day operation of the Engineering department, ensuring all hotel facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards. You will help lead the engineering team, oversee preventive maintenance programs, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and contribute to delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Chief Engineer in daily engineering operations, ensuring efficient maintenance activities and compliance with hotel standards.
• Monitor condition and performance of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems across guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house.
• Plan, coordinate, and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Supervise, coach, and develop engineering staff to build a skilled and motivated team.
• Maintain compliance with Hilton standards, local health and safety regulations, fire and life‑safety procedures, and environmental practices.
• Support energy‑conservation initiatives, cost‑control measures, inventory management, and efficient use of engineering resources.
• Collaborate with hotel departments, contractors, and service providers to resolve technical issues.
• Provide timely support during emergencies, breakdowns, and urgent guest‑related engineering requests.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience within the hospitality industry, in a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Previous experience with international hotel brands is preferred.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards.
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to guest satisfaction, quality, and operational excellence.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced hotel environment and support a high‑performing engineering team.
